 Following are excerpts from the nomination form:

 Frank Queen, a retired Denver Federation of Teacher member worked for AFT Colorado during the 2008 election cycle and has continued to volunteer for political activities.  he is an excellent addition to our team.  Frank quickly learned our issues and procedures and took a leadership role in helping others.

  During the past year Frank:

• Worked in all aspect fo the Labor 2008 program.
• Testified at the Capitol on Parental Involvement.
• Attended the AFL-CIO Lobby Day.
• Helped with the organizing around the Democratic Convention.
• Assisted with finding volunteers for activites.
• Prepared mailing to our members.
• and performed other tasks as needed.

 Frank is an intelligent and dedicated unionist.  his testimony before Legislative Committees was compelling and his quiet demeanor impresses all who work with him. 

The Meyer/Mall Outstanding Volunteer Award is an award, in memory of two outstanding volunteers. It is the desire of AFT Colorado to honor these women through the creation of the Meyer/Mall Award, to be presented at each convention in recognition of outstanding volunteer service.   

Dorothy Mall joined the Denver Federation of Nurses and Healthcare Professionals in the late 1970’s.  With others she led a ten year battle that resulted in the first AFT Contract with St. Anthony’s Hospital.  In addition to her work in the local, Dorothy also served on the Board of the State Federation for many years.  The volunteer efforts of these two women continue to inspire our organization.

Phyllis Meyer was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Denver Federation of Teachers and an officer of AFT Colorado for over 15 years.  Phyllis was known for her attention to detail.  When we wanted to be sure that a task was accomplished in a timely and professional manner, Phyllis was the one we called on.  Her dedication to AFT affiliates and their programs was unprecedented.
