VOTE! A Message from Ellen Slatkin
Dear Colleagues- We've received a number of phone calls and email from faculty who were worried about retaliation and concerned about the integrity of their secret ballot as they cast their vote on Pay for Performance. Hal Nees, Faculty Senate President, assures me that the secrecy of the ballot will be preserved. However, you need not attach the signature sheet to your ballot if you choose to vote in the Faculty Senate office, CN 303.
(Voting without the signature page was previously available in the office of Academic Affairs, but we have just been told that it has moved to the Faculty Senate office. You will need to bring your faculty identification with you if you chose to vote there.) Several faculty who were concerned about repercussions wondered if they should vote at all. Of course you should vote on a matter that so deeply concerns your vital interests, and you should vote your principles. Rest assured that, whatever the outcome of the vote on Pay for Performance, the MSFF will continue to work to preserve faculty rights, extend shared governance and uphold academic freedom. Ellen A. Slatkin President
